From the Director, Spring 2024

Greetings and Happy Spring!

By Stephanie Norton-Bredl, Executive Director

As we wrap up the first quarter of the year, our programs continue to see growth at a pace much like the previous year. As an example, in January 2023, we saw 781 unique households accessing our food services. This year in January, that number rose to 1,167 —a 49% jump. February’s trend was much the same and in March, we hit a record of 785 unique households served in our market only in just 4 days (24 service hours)! With more and more neighbors coming to us for support, we’ve had to beef up our workforce, engaging about 100 more volunteers than we had enlisted at this time last year.

Speaking of our amazing volunteers, on March 22, we celebrated our volunteers, with an open house brunch. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend! The team enjoyed transforming our Food Bank space into a Spring-themed café, with the opportunity to show our amazing volunteers how much we appreciate them! Our volunteers work hard and make a tremendous impact in our community.

Mountaineer John Muir said, “Spring work is going on with joyful enthusiasm.”  We appreciate the community’s joyful enthusiasm and partnership in this effort. Thank you for your ongoing support. It’s a joy to serve the community with you!
