From the Director

By Stephanie Norton-Bredl, Executive Director

As I’m wrapping up my first month with the Issaquah Food & Clothing Bank, I feel extremely lucky to have the opportunity to serve alongside such an amazing team of staff, volunteers, and supporters.

My first two weeks were spent immersed in programming, working side by side with our staff and volunteers. It’s amazing the amount of coordination and human-power it takes to open and staff our market, prepare and deliver our Groceries to Go, assemble Power Packs for local schoolkids, manage our food drives and inventory, and offer special programs like resource referrals and Lunch for the Break. I’ve met many clients, both here at the food bank and at community events, who have expressed how much our services have meant to their families.

April is volunteer appreciation month, and it has been clear to me that without our army of volunteers, many who give their time several days a week, it wouldn't be impossible to provide our programs and services to as many people as we do every month. We look forward to honoring our many volunteers on May 5 for our special Cinco de Mayo Volunteer Celebration. I am in awe of their dedication and drive.

I’d like to express my gratitude for the warm welcome that I’ve received from our staff, our volunteers, our partners, and supporters. I’m excited about what we will accomplish together in the coming months!
