POSITION SUMMARY:

The Operations Coordinator plays a key role in a collaborative, high-energy team, ensuring the smooth operation of all programs, maintaining organized inventory and warehouse spaces, and consistently providing welcoming and gracious customer service to the community we serve. Work is primarily performed in a warehouse/grocery store-like setting, requiring the ability to regularly lift items up to 50 pounds. 
 
Position hours are full time, 40 hours per week, with a biweekly schedule, with some shifts 8 am – 4:30 pm and others 11:30-7:30 pm, to accommodate current operating hours.  One weekend day per month, minimum, may also be required. Hours may vary occasionally for special programs. Note that the exact hours are subject to change based on the evolving needs of our community. 
 
Driving staff vehicles (vans and box truck) is required for this position. Applicants must have a clear driving record, pass a driving background check, and be at least 25 years old to meet the insurance coverage requirements for staff vehicles. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Coordinate daily IFCB operations, including:  

    • Lead teams of volunteers in the completion of various tasks. 

    • Lead afternoon and/or weekend food drives at our offsite warehouse location (1 mile from the food bank)  

    • Assist as needed with weekend offsite food and resource donation drives.  

    • Drive box truck or large van as needed for food/product pickups. 

    • Co-lead one or more open shopping shifts (11:30 am – 7:30 pm) every other week.  

    • Support food intake processes and distribution of food products and other goods.  

    • Assist with setting up grocery store and prepping workspace for home delivery and youth programs. 

    • Ensure workspaces are clean, organized and reset prior to volunteer shift changes.  

    • Ensure shoppers needs are met and help greet and interact positively with all clients, volunteers, and donors.  

    • Support operations team with stocking, restocking, and inventory management. 

    • Assist with answering front door and addressing community members’ emergency needs. 

    • Contribute to ongoing operational process improvement. 

    • Data entry and administrative program support 

    • Attend all required staff meetings and trainings

  2. Provide staff support during special programs and events, including food, resource, and/or clothing drives. 

  3. Develop and maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with team members, volunteers, donors, and other partner agencies. 

  4. Perform other duties as assigned by manager and attend training as required.  

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Education/Experience
     •    Required: 
          o    Associate or bachelor’s degree and two years of warehouse or team leadership experience preferred. 
          o    Applicants must have a clear driving record, pass a driving background check, and be at least 25 years old to meet the insurance coverage        requirements for staff vehicles. 
          o    Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. This is a physically rigorous position in a busy, multi-faceted work and warehouse environment, and occasionally in adverse weather conditions. 
     •    Strongly desired: 
          o    Bilingual in Spanish, Mandarin, Russian or Ukrainian 
          o    Experience working in a food pantry or similar operation. 
          o    Knowledge of warehouse organization.  
          o    Knowledge of intake and distribution practices and procedures.  
          o    Knowledge of food safety and warehouse operations safety.  
          o    Familiarity with using an inventory management system. 
          o    Experience using manual and electric pallet jack. 
          o    Ability to drive a vehicle; valid driver’s license; and a good driving record. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
     •    Organize, set priorities, multi-task, and meet deadlines. 
     •    Safely and repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds throughout an 8-hour day. 
     •    Experience with operating a pallet jack. 
     •    Experience driving a box truck and large van. 
     •    Exercise good judgement and discretion, maintain confidentiality of clients, colleagues, and agency.  
     •    Relate well to individuals of all backgrounds and socio-economic levels. 
     •    Communicate effectively with clients, donors, volunteers, and colleagues verbally and in writing. 
     •    Work as part of a dynamic, high-functioning team, as well as work independently with a minimum of supervision. 
     •    Maintain a flexible schedule, including being able to work evening and weekend hours. 
     •    Proficiency with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook). 
     •    Ability to motivate diverse volunteer teams.
