Lorna Gilmour's path to the Issaquah Food & Clothing Bank board reflects a lifetime commitment to serving communities with compassion and dignity. Born in Bombay, India and raised in the United States, Lorna's multicultural background shaped her deep appreciation for diverse perspectives and the challenges faced by families navigating new environments.

Lorna's dedication to service took her to Guatemala as a Peace Corps volunteer, where she spent two years in Salama working as an Environmental Education and Management Volunteer with a local non-profit. Upon returning to the United States, she channeled this passion into education, teaching high school in Texas before settling in the Seattle area to continue her work with the Issaquah School District. Over her 30-year teaching career, Lorna has touched countless lives, helping students and families access opportunities and navigate systems that can often feel overwhelming.

As a Family Partnership Specialist at the Issaquah School District, she has supported numerous families in navigating the school system, building trust and creating pathways to resources that make a tangible difference in their lives. Lorna's collaboration with the Issaquah Food & Clothing Bank emerged naturally from her work supporting families in the school district. She recognized that many families needed more than educational advocacy—they needed access to basic necessities provided with dignity and respect. This shared vision between her work and IFCB's mission fueled her commitment to joining the board, where she brings her decades of experience building relationships, understanding diverse community needs, and creating sustainable solutions. Lorna is honored to serve families in the local community through this vital organization, continuing her lifelong dedication to ensuring that everyone has access to the resources they need to thrive.
